Getting your wrinkle relaxer treatments

wrinkle relaxers at MIRA Clinic Perth - anti-wrinkle injections

Wrinkle relaxers are used for the treatment of facial wrinkles such as crows’ feet, frown lines and forehead wrinkles. They are injectable treatments of a purified protein, injected in carefully selected doses precisely into targeted sites in order to relax specific muscles thereby reducing unwanted expression lines.

Wrinkle relaxers treatments at Míra Clinic are non- surgical procedures which provide you with results that typically last and little to no recovery downtime.

Where can anti-wrinkle injections be useful?
For most individuals wrinkle relaxing Injections effectively soften and reduce:

  • Frown lines
  • Crows’ feet
  • Forehead lines

These treatments can be one of the most cost-effective ways to freshen one’s appearance. The effects of these treatments will usually last from 3 to 4 months, and by regularly repeating these treatments a few times per year it is possible for even very established wrinkles to fade away over a period of 1 to 3 years.
After regular treatments the skin cells along wrinkle lines will not suffer the physical stress of being repeatedly creased, which allows them to function normally again, gradually restoring a normal thickness along wrinkles causing them to fade.

Getting your wrinkle relaxer treatments

Getting your wrinkle relaxer treatments doesn’t have to be expensive. Our team is very experienced in administering these treatments. Dr Andrew Clark, Tracy Tuckey Registered Nurse and Tiffany Fraser Registered Nurse have performed 25,550 separate cosmetic injectable treatments between them at the time of starting MIRA Clinic. We have set a low price because we operate a high-volume, low-margin business and we are able to pass on our savings from purchasing large amounts of wrinkle relaxing medications to our clients. Our goal is to provide a service and experience of the highest quality at lower than average prices.

What is a Wrinkle Relaxing treatment?

Wrinkle relaxing injections involve the administration of precise doses of Schedule 4 (prescription only) wrinkle relaxing medications to well defined locations in the facial muscles to relax the muscles that cause characteristic expression lines seen with ageing. Prior to treatment all clients need a consultation to help determine if these treatments may be appropriate for them and to describe the process and expected outcomes, and the possible side-effects of the treatments. We offer these consultations with no-obligation to proceed to treatment and no obligation to purchase any other product or service from us in the future.

No-Obligation Consultations

If there is a medical reason for you not to have the wrinkle relaxing treatment or if you decide not to go ahead with treatment, then no treatment will be performed and no charge is made. If it is decided that the treatment is medically appropriate, you have the option of proceeding with your treatment at the time of your appointment or of coming back another day to do it. We do not recoup the cost of consultations with any hidden or extra charges in the future.

Who shouldn’t have wrinkle relaxing treatments?

Generally speaking, these treatments are not appropriate if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have certain neurological conditions or some other rare disease. If you are very unwell or are being investigated for potentially significant health problems we recommend that you delay your visit to us until you are better or your treating doctor gives you an “all clear” to proceed with cosmetic wrinkle relaxing injections. These are elective treatments for appearance that require the use of prescription only medication and we do not offer any of these treatments to persons under the age of 18 years. We mention these guidelines so that we can save you an unnecessary trip to come in for a consultation. We are unable to offer consultations over the phone or via social media. The final decision on whether or not these treatments can be performed are at the complete discretion of the clinic and the doctor made during your consultation with us.

Treatment “Areas”

There are three main “areas” of expression lines on the face that commonly benefit from treatment with wrinkle relaxing injections. They are the “crowsfeet” (treatment of both sets of crowfeet next to both eyes on both sides of the face which is counted as “one area”); the “horizontal forehead lines” is another “area”; and the “glabellar” is another area (the vertical lines that appear between the eyebrows when frowning). During your consultation we will discuss with you the pros and cons of treating each area as they relate to your particular features and your appearance goals.

Pricing and Dose

Our normal price is $170 for treating one “area” with wrinkle relaxing injections. By booking online, we save our administrative costs and we pass those savings on to you, which results in a price of $153 for the treatment of one area. Using our experience we will recommend a dose that will give you what we expect to be the best possible result for that area. Remember, getting a bigger dose is not necessarily better. A dose that is too big can increase the risk of side effects. Included in the price of your treatment is the opportunity to return between 10 and 21 days from your treatment for complimentary review of your results. If necessary, an extra dose may be administered, at no charge, at the discretion of the clinic and the doctor. We limit the extra dose to a maximum of 20% of the initial dose. If this extra dose is necessary, we keep a record of it, and at your next visit (when the first treatment is wearing off and it is time for another treatment) we can treat you with  this larger dose (i.e. the sum of your initial dose plus your “top up” dose) which in most cases reduces the need for subsequent “top up” doses.

What if I need a much bigger dose than average?

A small percentage of clients (in our experience usually around 1% of individuals who have these treatments), due to unique biological factors require doses even larger than our maximum dose (i.e. our recommended starting dose plus the top up dose). We make our best effort to get the best possible result for each client, but we do not “guarantee” any particular result. In cases where our maximum dose is not sufficient to relax your expression muscles to the extent desired, we are unable to give even bigger doses at no extra charge. During your next consultation with us (after having a sub-optimal result with a maximum dose), we will discuss with you the options going forward. If medically appropriate (and this is at the discretion of the clinic and the doctor) additional dose can be purchased on a pro-rated basis. Many clients in this situation still find that they get satisfactory long term results by returning for regular treatments of the maximum dose. A very small number of clients decide that the cost versus benefit just does not work out for them and they discontinue seeking these treatments or try alternative types of treatment.

Treating More Than One Area

If you decide to treat more than one area at the same treatment session then our “per area” costs are reduced and we pass those savings on to our clients. The cost of getting two areas treated is $320 ($289 if you book online). Or cost for treating 3 areas is $450 ($405 if you book online).

Which brand of wrinkle relaxer does MIRA Clinic use?

Laws for advertising of medical and nursing services and for advertising of prescription only medication mean that we can’t mention wrinkle relaxing medication brand names (and we can’t use any kind of abbreviation or ingredient name that could help specify the medication name). This is why we haven’t mentioned anything about medication brands so far. The prices mentioned so far use one particular brand and our clients have been overwhelmingly satisfied with this brand. We also use another brand, but due to our cost of purchasing that brand our prices to use that brand have to be around 12% higher. The higher price reflects the cost to us, and does not indicate any difference in how long the treatment lasts. Most of our clients can’t tell the difference in result between the brands. A small number of clients report a slightly better or slightly different result with one brand compared to another (and this preference goes in both directions). We will discuss the different brands and help you decide on which brand we use during your consultation.

If you decide to have your treatment with the other brand, the prices are:

  • 1 Area of wrinkle relaxing injections with alternate brand: $190 (price when booking online: $171)
  • 2 Areas of wrinkle relaxing injections with alternate brand: $360 (price when booking online: $324)
  • 2 Areas of wrinkle relaxing injections with alternate brand: $510 (price when booking online: $459)
Yes, but what do you charge “per unit”?

The two brands of wrinkle relaxing medications use different types of units. Although there is no official conversion rate for the different units, in most cases we believe a conversion rate of 2.5 works out accurately. If you opt for the brand that costs $153 for one area, you will be paying around $3.05 per unit (of that brand) which works out to less than $8 per unit equivalent of the other brand. If you opt for the other brand it works out to less than $9 per unit. We offer these prices as our “best price” and we do not price match advertised prices of other businesses. We ask you to consider the experience and the overall level of service when you are comparing prices.

What if I book online for one service but end up having another service?

Booking online through the “Book Now” button on our Facebook page or our website will earn you a 10% discount on any treatment that you decide to have. So even if you opt for another brand, or you opt for more or less areas than what you chose when you booked, or if you decide not to have a treatment and you decide to buy some skin care instead you will still be eligible for a 10% discount.

What if I book online for a service but decide not to go ahead with treatment and to come back on another day?

You should not feel pressured into having any cosmetic or medical treatment. If you decide not to go ahead with treatment on the day, or you’d rather schedule your treatment for some time in the future, you can rebook a time for your treatment while you are in our clinic or later on, using the online booking service via our Facebook page or our website (coming soon), then you will still be eligible for the 10% discount when you return.

Realistic outcomes

We are in this business for the long term. We wish to earn your trust and loyalty through every aspect of how we do business with you. We do not want to get a short term boost in sales by over promising what is possible through our treatments. During your consultation we will explain how the treatments work and the normal results that we expect. Deep wrinkles can look a lot better after one treatment, but wrinkles just won’t disappear. Quite deep wrinkles can fade significantly after repeated treatments 3 to 4 months apart and we will explain the process and the reasoning during your consultation before you decide whether or not to proceed.

Why are your prices so cheap?

As explained above, we buy large amounts of these medications and therefore get access to special pricing that we pass on to our clients. We believe by being efficient with our business systems and treating large numbers of clients we can be profitable at prices that are below the average price of the industry.

What about using wrinkle relaxing injections to treat medical conditions?

The same medication used for wrinkle relaxing medications can be used for a variety of medical purposes such as reducing sweating, reducing headaches or reducing scars. We do not offer any medicare rebates, we do not assess or advise on the treatment of any non-cosmetic conditions. Health fund rebates are usually not available for any of our treatments. We insist that you seek the opinion of your General Practitioner (or a specialist as advised by your General Practitioner) for the assessment and treatment of any non-cosmetic medical condition.

Advertising of medical and nursing services

The legislation for advertising medical and nursing services prohibits the use of special pricing to encourage unnecessary or indiscriminate use of medical or nursing services. The law also prohibits advertising of gifts, discounts or inducements to attract a user of the health service without stating the terms and the conditions of the offer. The pricing discussed above is our “everyday price”, we have explained our pricing as completely as we can. There is no “time limit” on the price and we encourage our clients to do their research and to visit multiple clinics for several opinions before proceeding with any cosmetic medical treatment and don’t allow anyone to make you feel rushed into making a decision on any of these types of treatments. We still reserve the right to alter our prices in the future in response to changes in the cost of providing our services. None of our services are “surgical” or “invasive” (as defined by the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law) and therefore we are not required to make any warning statement about surgical or invasive procedures.

In accordance with the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law, we do not solicit or use testimonials that refer to the medical and nursing services that we provide. Users of Facebook are free to write reviews about any business (subject to the Facebook community standards) which are published on their own Facebook page and then linked to the relevant business’s Facebook page. As a business page, we are not able to edit, delete or curate those reviews. By not sharing or reposting those reviews we are not “using” them even if they reviews are positive in nature and might otherwise be defined as a “testimonial”. In accordance with the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law, we are required to remove any positive commentary that meets the definition of a “testimonial” that is posted to other parts of our Facebook page over which we do have the ability to control. The rules on testimonials do not apply to our retail and dermal therapy services.
