Lip injections (fillers) in Perth

For some of us, the size of the red coloured part of the lips (called the vermillion) is smaller than we’d like. Successfully increasing the size of small lips requires an understanding of proportion so that the final result looks both natural and sensual. One of our most popular treatments is the enhancement of lip volume using dermal filler injections, often called “lip filler” treatments. By performing thousands of these treatments over the past few years, we have developed the experience to ensure we can communicate with our clients before their treatments to help tailor the best possible result for them.

At Mira Clinic in Perth, we use dermal fillers for lip enhancement treatments to increase volume to thin lips.

Injectable dermal fillers are very popular these days and are mostly used for lip enhancement procedures. There are more and more brands of dermal fillers becoming available for use in Australia. Each brand of dermal filler has slightly different gel characteristics that result in the fillers looking and behaving differently in the lips. Based on our extensive experience, we can help describe the differences to you and help you decide on which brand of dermal filler to use. We stock and have experience using most dermal filler brands that are available in Australia. Many clinics will stock only one.

Once we have done the medical consultation (which includes a prescription – if appropriate) and once we have finished describing the treatment, and gone through the consent process, the actual lip filler treatment is relatively quick, it usually takes 5 to 10 minutes. We offer all clients the option of either numbing cream or numbing injections. Numbing injections are more effective and very quick. Because we use numbing medicine that is a bit different from what most dentists use, the numbing will wear off much faster. Most of the time our numbing injections will wear off in 15 to 60 minutes. Some people prefer not to have the very numb lips (from injections) and choose the numbing cream instead. The cream takes 10 to 20 minutes to work.

Many types of dermal fillers can be injected around the mouth and in the lips. The fillers that we recommend for use in the lips are ones that contain factory manufactured substances very similar to the hyaluronic acid substances that are found naturally in everyone’s skin.

Once injecting the gel, the filler shapes and supports the tissues of the lips. There are many different hyaluronic acid fillers available in Perth. We recommend scheduling a consultation with us so that we can discuss your needs.

At the consultation, one of our skilled practitioners will examine you and make recommendations that will help you reach the best possible outcomes.

  • Progressive pace of treatment. The dermal fillers are injected slowly during different sessions until the patient’s desired results have been achieved.
  • Control lip volume. The amount of filler injected is monitored, this allows for more control over the amount of volume applied to the lip.
  • Minimal side effects. There is less swelling and bruising from the dermal fillers that we use than any other dermal filler. Patients have reported seeing lumps and bumps, but they diminish quickly.
  • Allergies are rare. Because dermal fillers are created from substances similar to those found in the body, it is very rare to develop an allergic reaction. However, if you experience any reaction contact our clinic right away.

Is lip enhancement right for you?

To answer this question, you must first ask yourself why you want to modify your lips. You should not undergo this procedure unless you really want to change the appearance of your mouth.

Having realistic expectations about the outcome is important. Enhanced lips may make your lips plumper and fuller, but you will still be you when you walk out of our clinic.

You may not be a candidate if you have:

  • Diabetes
  • Blood-clotting problems
  • Lupus
  • Infections

If you have ever had a cold sore, you should tell your practitioner before having lip enhancement treatments. Also, make sure to mention any medications, including herbal supplements, over-the-counter and prescription medications at the initial consultation.
