What is a Skinpen treatment?
A Skinpen treatment is an advanced non-surgical cosmetic procedure used to reduce wrinkles, smoker’s lines, large pores, heal acne, surgical and burn scars as well as rejuvenate and tighten the skin.
As the name suggests the device looks much like a large pen. However, when applied to the skin this device releases a number of microscopic needles which pierce the skin. The aim is to stimulate the skin and create a ‘micro-trauma’ that the body will recognise, reacting with production of new cells and collagen. This results in an improvement in the texture of the skin.
The design of the Skinpen specifically allows the needles to oscillate so there is no visible tearing of the skin. Depth of the needles can be adjusted, as well as a function to allow nutrients or serums to be applied and transferred to the skin’s deeper layers that usually cannot be reached.

What results can you expect from Skinpen?
This treatment is applied to the whole face, but we encourage you to tell our Skinpen therapist about your concerns so that she may tailor and focus your treatment. The Skinpen, due to its customisable nature, is able to treat the delicate under-eye area and get results in this area that are just not possible with wrinkle relaxers, dermal fillers or other treatments.
Skinpen treatments
Prior to treatment we apply a topical anaesthetic which numbs the top layer of the skin resulting in the treatment being very comfortable.
We use the Skinpen Hyaluronic Acid Gel with the treatment, which is pushed by the Skinpen needles into the top layers of the skin to assist with nourishing and hydrating the skin.
It is normal to appear quite red for a few hours after the treatment and it is recommended to avoid make up for the rest of the day. The redness rapidly settles and is usually not noticeable the following day, when makeup can safely be worn to cover up any remaining evidence of the treatment.
A single treatment will not miraculously erase all signs of problem skin. Instead, each treatment helps a small amount, and when several treatments are done in sequence every four to six weeks the cumulative results can be very impressive. In most cases we recommend a course of 3 to 6 treatments spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart as a minimum. Single treatments can then be done every 3 or 4 months to maintain results.
After the treatment, the body responds to the micro-holes by triggering the natural healing and immune process, leading to growth of collagen, restoring the firmness and smoothness of skin. This is similar to the effect of a fractional laser treatment – but at a much lower price and with much less down time.
