Excessive underarm sweat can have a significantly negative impact on your life. Not only is it socially embarrassing, it can also be costly due to clothing ruined by underarm stains.
The medical term for excessive sweating is hyperhidrosis. Hyperhidrosis is a condition characterised by abnormal sweating that is far more than what is required to regulate body temperature. People who suffer from this condition have noticeable perspiration patches under their arms regardless of the temperature or stress of the situation. If this sounds like you, you’ve probably tried numerous products and procedures to treat your condition but have found that most things only work in the short term – if at all.
As seen on Today Tonight
miraDry is different from other treatments because its effects are permanent. You don’t need a medical diagnosis of hyperhidrosis to benefit from miraDry, as anyone who wants to experience less discomfort from visible sweating is a perfect candidate.
Because miraDry is a non-invasive procedure, downtime is minimal. Before the procedure, local anaesthetic is injected into the armpits which can result in swelling of the armpits and the arms which usually resolves in one or two days. The local anaesthetic may temporarily cause numbness in the arms and hands, therefore we insist that you do not drive on the same day as your treatment. There is usually soreness in the armpit area that, in most cases, is resolved by the second day after the procedure. Simple pain relievers like paracetamol is recommended. Most clients can resume their regular activities the day after the treatment. Some more strenuous activities like high impact exercise should be suspended for a few days, but mostly you will be free to go about your business as usual.
